Manatee is closed right now for health reasons by the Dept of Health. The closure has nothing to do with the system itself. It has to do with contaminated water that has came in from the river and is unsafe for humans to be in.

The report was made on Extreme Exposures Facebook page by EE. They said that Manatee was starting to slowly siphon pulling river water in to Catfish Hotel and upstream towards Friedmans.
It's not the years in your life that matter, but the life in your years.
I called the park itself and have spoke to them 4 times now. Feel free to call. I told her today the site shows closed to swimming...she said they do not handle any of that thru the chk station. All they do is basically chk you in/out and maintain the pk. The state regulates all activities and such of closing and opening. I asked her why it was closed and she said do to contaminants coming into the system from the river. She did not say wat kind of contaminants, but with Peacock and others having sewage in them, I'd bet its something like that.
Could make for a shity dive...

References to Peacock , Manatee, and others being contaminated with sewage etc is not based on fact - but rather rumer, hearsay, and ridiculous exageration. Please read the most recent report by the Suwannee River Water Management District.

Read report thank you for the link aquadog196.
Looked at river levels, what is the typical requirements to re-open the park?

I'm not really trusting of the SRWMD in assessing and responding to water issues here....do you read the bios of the folks on the board and think "Defenders of Water" or "Political Ninjas from the Ag industry"?
