    Default Manatee Springs

I just called Manatee to ask about diving and the ranger said there is a 75% chance they will be closed to all diving by the weekend. He said the system is becoming unsafe to allow divers in.

The ranger actually called me back (ie, had camping reserv), and they are fully closed to all diving until further notice.

I just looked at the river levels. Manatee has already crested, so hopefully it won't be closed very long.

He said to check back daily but it would be at least Monday from what he knew. I asked as to why and he said he couldnt speculate other then unsafe conditions. It maybe the fact of the conditions that James stated in the other Manatee thread.

I just got a report from Ginnie that the conditions at Devil's are getting worse and worse and that no one should plan to dive it this Sunday. Repeat...Don't dive it this Sunday. I will go and give you a report on Monday. But until that time avoid Ginnie.

I'm kidding of course. I suspect I will be seeing many of you there this weekend if I go. It will be like a mini social

Yea, ppl need to head NORTH to the Mill Pond and avoid Ginnie as stated. Not only is the water brown, I hear the cave monster has moved in. Im afraid he will be hungry agian starting Sat night.

Thanks for the update Jim (SMILE)
Guages forcast the level on the Santa Fe to drop 4 feet between today and Sunday/Monday.
I guess they REALLY want it for themselves...

P.S. The Manatee website says closed to swimming due to brown-out. (starts singing in the rain)

Manatee is still open to diving though is it not?
Rain down there, snow and ice up here!
I would think that Ginnie has a few divers there now days.
Spring breakers will only make it more active.
