Default What did i see in the water?

Yesterday while diving at Eagles Nest with a couple of buddies, I saw something that I have never seen before. We were at the end of the line on the upstream side and went a bit further to look under an overhanging ledge. It is difficult to describe, but I will try my best. It made me think of a layer of smoke. It was small patches and not just a solid layer. We saw it in several different locations. Almost like a flat cloud.

Could this be some kind of bacteria? The cure for cancer? Narcois for multiple divers at once?

    Sulfide Layer?

Maybe a defined bit of salt water or tanic water?

Sulfide layer.....that phenomenon exists all over the west coast's cave systems, usually in the mixing layers of salt/brackish/fresh water....

I saw this explained on Star Trek just the other night. It is a smoke creature that, if contacted, will extract all of the salt from your blood and leave you a small crumbly block of a Styrofoam looking stuff. Spock called it illogical, and then they baited it with salt and transported it into deep space. Do not carry any extra salt with you in Eagle's Nest, you should be fine.

It was either that, or a sulfide layer.

Really nice video. Glad you shared it here.

Rebreathers are something that we have to go to in order to dive the way we want to dive. They are not something we go to for any other reason.

Yes, exactly like I saw. From about 0:33 to 0:50 is what I saw.
