    Default Crossunder Tunnel at Madison...

Was at Madison today and wanted to let people know that about 150' from the start of the Crossunder line is a "permanent" arrow, eg a big yellow one, pointing back into the cave. I didn't notice it on the way in, but did on the way out and I didn't remove it or reverse it 'cause I didn't know anything about it. As silty as that passage gets though, I thought y'all should know.....

    Safe diving,

There are a lot of wrong arrows in Madison that I've noticed so far. The Godzilla jump has a single arrow pointing the wrong why at the start of the line.

Line committee members dive at Madison frequently. I have not seen any arrows that are pointing the wrong way, but of course that can change daily. If you see arrows that you think are incorrect you should always contact the NFSA Line Committee. http://northfloridaspringsalliance.org/lines.htm .. The NFSA is charged by the landowner with keeping lines, signs and arrows in good shape

The arrow you are talking about...is it at the very beginning of the Godzilla Room jump?

Yes, Once you cross over it's the start of the godzilla line and it's pointing in towards the cave.

This is 2 arrows reported in Madison in the past week or so that are incorrect.

Apparently there is a new survey team diving in there now with lots of cave divers learning how to survey. This arrow may be the result of the new team in there. I expect the line committee and all the rest of us should BOLO for things of this nature.

While we know the new team members have the best of intentions, errors can happen.

Jim, I was there for the first survey. As far as I know, no arrows of any sort are being used. Only cookies.

    Jim,

I was there for the survey and AFIK no arrows being used...I was in the crossunder tunnel and in the area where Rich mentions all we noticed was an old cookie...will check it out next time we're there (next weekend likely).

    Dive safe,

Hasn't this come up before regarding the Godzilla line? It's the continuous line vs. shortest distance confusion. Why not just make that a T, and end the discussion?

What's the logic behind leaving a line arrow in place that is clearly pointing the wrong way? If you know it's wrong, just remove it.
