    Default Twin January 20th

I would like to take the time to say that I am sorry to the team of four doing their cavern and Intro class at Twin on the morning of 1/20 around 1030-1100. When I came out of the entrance into the open water area, I pulled my dump valve to release some air, and it stuck open. Being in 5ft of water, I hit the silty bottom in about 2 sec and made a mess.

I wanted to those to know why we they has to take 10 min floating till the area cleared out.

Did you by any chance swap the pull dump from low to high?

I think that I read somewhere that you have the SMS100 (or something similar) with mods (as per Edd). The reason I ask this is that I did the same swap and when I pulled open the dump at about 120' in Hudson Grotto it stuck open and I did a header into a couple of feet of silt. In deep open water I would have been in real deep (literally) doo-doo as I was in a wet suit. Needless to say, I put the dump/inflator back to stock and make sure I have redundant buoyancy (drysuit or lift bag when wet) . I also like to be able to vent from the bottom in case I need to (as when getting foot light in a dry suit).

I've also had problems with a leaking dump valve after moving it to the bottom. Did not care for that and moved it back again.

On the other hand, it does give a perfect excuse for trashing the viz!

I have the both SMS and Nomad with Edds Mods and I was using the Nomad. I was diving wet also and back up inflation but it was so quick and shallow, it didnt matter. I have not changed them back as I know that sometimes it happens. After close inspection, it appeared that the spring was very weak and needs to be replaced after having alot of wear on it.

I have no issues dumping in any position. I changed the way I attached the Inflator hose, and it now allows me to use it in diff positions.

Yes, before I could blink, I stuck my arms out and went all the way up to my mask in the silt....Ill say there is some hard bottom about 3 ft under the silt there...LOL...

    Wow, Way to man up!!!

There was an argument as to whether Twin looked like "chocolate milk" or a "caramel latte".

I feel for you, I did somewhat of the same in HITW . . .

I'm sure we silted it up a LOT more after you guys left... I've experienced some low vis situations fossil diving in the cooper river, but an air share drill while exiting the cavern resulted in a total blackout... all in all a great experience!

Can't wait to get back in cave country

    Yep, Basic Cave Certified now!

I honestly have to say cavern and basic is the best SCUBA class I've taken to date, thanks to RN!

Lol! All I know is that the cavern was perfectly clear when I went to pick up my O2 bottle and when I looked up it was as though a silt bomb had gone off and all I could see was a faint glow from the entrance.
