Default Research Study - Personality Traits & Relationship Satisfaction in Male Cave Divers

There is still time to participate. This is a follow-up from post made on 1/9/2012 here on the CDF. I know how busy we all are but I could really use your help.

Doctoral Online Research Study investigating the relationship between personality traits and relationship satisfaction in male cave divers?

    To participate go to: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/5YPNLKZ

Study Requirements – Complete a demographic survey (5 minutes) and three scales that measure dyadic adjustment (10 minutes), personality traits (15 minutes), and alexithymia (5 minutes). You would need to allow approximately 35 minutes to complete the entire survey.

Eligibility Requirements – You must be a male cave diver18 years of age or older and married or in a committed relationship. There is also a category for those who consider themselves in a separated relationship status.

This survey is completely anonymous and no IP addresses are collected by this researcher.

Participation is entirely voluntary and can be withdrawn at any time. Since this is an exploratory study and gender differences in activities similar to cave diving were found during the literature review this study will be limited to male cave divers. Future studies planned will include female cave divers.

If you should have any questions or need more information please contact me, William B. Oigarden at (386) 984-9348 or by email bill@oigarden.com or william.oigarden@mymail.barry.edu, my supervisor, Dr. Catharina Eeltink at (321) 235-8401, or by email at keeltink@mail.barry.edu , or the Institutional Review Board point of contact, Barbara Cook at (305) 899-3020, or by email at bcook@mail.barry.edu .

Thank you for your time and interest in this study, which is partial fulfillment of a Ph.D. degree in Counseling I am pursuing. Bill Oigarden

Were you by chance involved with and hurt by a male cave diver?

Done. But it made me angry, and I am not sure why.

It's not the years in your life that matter, but the life in your years.

One question not inclded in the survey is whether or not the subject's spouse/significant other is also a cave diver. I can imagine this potentially having a big effect on relationship satisfaction.

Tracy and I never argue about what we're going to do on vacation, or about the money that gets spent on cave diving trips, equipment, etc. If I was married to a non-diver, or even a warm water/shallow reef/pretty fish diver, this might not be the case.

Thanks for participating Mike. You bring up a great question to ask. I can add your comments in Chapter 5 – Further Research. Thank you sir.

Also, if the rest of the members please continue to consider participating that would be great. The larger the number the better results we get. Feedback from those who have completed the survey suggest it only takes about 15-20 minutes.

I am grateful for everyone who has completed the survey and everyone who is still considering being part of the project. There is still time to join in.

Just got done with the test. It reveals that I have no personality.

Do not go gentle into that good night.

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

You're an engineer, right? Are you supposed to have one?

When I went to work for CBS, they confiscated my personality, soul, dreams, hopes, aspirations, and a pound of flesh. But I still get to keep my sense of humor...
