    Default Eagles Nest Downstream

CCR, DPV Dive today at Eagles Nest. Visibility in the Cavern and the downstream tunnel to about 400' was 3-5'. Water was very tannic.

The water level in the pond was low while we were diving.

Yes. I did all my Low/No Vis DPV training in the Wakulla/Tallahassee area.

    Andrew A. was my mentor.

    Step 1 Go Fast
    Step 2 Duck as needed
Step 3 Don't drop the scooter
Step 4 Rinse and Repeat as needed

Still waiting on my Low Vis DPV Cave Card.

Sounds like when I did the Santa Fe Rise with Mike Poucher, Brett H, and...I think Jerry Murphy was #4....on their permit, of course...
After 6-800 ft, scootering, in maybe 8-10ft. viz...in that HUGE passage (never saw more than the line and maybe a bit of wall...going way up or way down...occaisionally), I pulled the thumb and said "This is stupid, lets head for the door"......
Had the same experience in Wakulla once as well....you DO NOT want to lose the line, obviously, but at least there we knew clear water was waiting further in, where we were going.
Thats really bad for the Nest....wonder why the bad viz...hasn't rained that much lately...?

it's a mystery. your right on the rain. i checked a Noaa website and the rainfall in the last month has been slightly below normal. i was there 3 weeks ago and had 50 to 60 ft vis. the tide was definitely out, as the water level in the basin was very low. i know, generally speaking, high tide is supposed to be better, but should not affect things to the extent we had.
