Do you have that problem with everyone in the dive industry? Just wondering, because it seems you do.

Steve has always been upfront about lead times. I haven't sent anything to him yet, but spoken with him a number of times and he was very helpful. All of my friends swear by him.

    Does sound odd.
I deal with Dive Right In Scuba (Illinois). Do repairs and return within two weeks: and definitely try to please.
    Never been dissappointed

Puttzer, Steve is way better in quality of work, timeliness, and customer service. It is disappointing to hear that you made it all the way to Steves shop looking for kneepads without somebody else already telling you were going to be the joke of the week, but that has the appearances of a newbie cave diver mistake on your part. Steve just did what you asked him to do. I have been friends with Steve for close to 20 years now and there have been several times that he looks at me after a request and gives me a WTF.... I typically defer to his experience as he has forgotten more about drysuits than most people know, and that includes the manufacturers. If they knew everything, Steve wouldn't be working 70 hours a week.... However, it is good to hear of your good results with the people in Illinois if Steve ever gets run over by a bus in Gainesville....

No No No: Steve is respected and apparently "great" today.
He IS the guy for repairs : but I resent him for his "joke" and attitude 10 years ago.
So I don't deal with him.....

Mike Pederson, at Dive Right in Scuba has NEVER acted less than professional.

Uh ...no. I am indeed nobody but I have 200+ cave dives. But I wish Steve well.

Steve Gamble and Mike Pederson are BOTH great. Neither has acted less than professional in all my dealings with them. Would recommend both without hesitation.

Was it really a joke or was he just doing what you asked? I know Steve has told people before that a dry suit is not working on but will still work on it if the owner is insistent.

I have never dealt with Steve, so I can offer no opinion on the quality of his work. However, I think your post is out of line. A few months back I purchased a used wing manufactured by a very well-respected company whose owner is known for excellent customer service. The wing had a pinch flat and did not hold air, so I sent it to the manufacturer for repair. The wing was returned to me with a new bladder but still did not hold air. When I inquired to the owner he told me I could send it back and pay for an inspection, parts, labor, etc. etc, which is ridiculous because I was told the wing would be inspected BEFORE the repair and I would be contacted to be told what is wrong and the cost of the repair (which I wasn't).

In fairness the cost of the repair and the turnaround time was reasonable, but the wing still does not hold air. Like I said this company is well-regarded and the owner known for excellent customer service, I just did not get it. Maybe the owner was upset that I bought a used wing, I don't know. My point is that everyone has different experiences and you should not jump down the throat of someone whose experience is different than yours.

Nobody is perfect, not even Steve. But if Steve was going to screw something up once in 10 years, I'm glad it was your suit and not mine

I think Jordan posted that because Puttzer has posted numerous negative reviews, not just a one time thing
