Lets not lose sight of the objective here!
Thanks James for your email. For the record, I received a pmail from another poster, who copied me his letter. It was persuasive and passionate(thanks Gene). When I posted the thread, I really didn't expect much in the way of replies, and was happy to get what I got. I choose to believe that a number of people sent e-mails, but didn't reply. I know I have sent a number of number of emails, and letters in response to other causes championed on this forum, and I never acknowledged that I had sent them.
Please forgive John for getting emotional. Anyone who has grown up with this amazing resource, and fully understands the ramifications of the decisions being made and battles being fought, can't help but become emotional from time to time when thinking about the possibility of losing it. I lost it a little bit at the meeting, and didn't really get all of my points across.
I think what John is trying to say is that this board has no shortage of opinions about some of the most trivial of things, and are quick to voice those opinions in their replies. The silence on conservation issues, and springs protection in general, seem to indicate that they just aren't interested. People have the right to choose their priorities. In fact, Our priorities define who we are as people. It is what it is! I have to say I have been in shock at the complete silence of the NFSA on this issue. Springs alliance groups from Wakulla County, to Orlando have been active in the cause, but Not the NFSA. At least, not to my knowledge. I have a great deal of respect for Kelly, and the hard work he has done in this area, so the silence is baffling.
If you feel like being a part of this endeavor, please send an email. If not, Thank you for at least considering.
I already assume that Jax sent an email.

You are welcome the other Gene.... I was just going to tell John that not everyone posted here who decided to send in an e-mail.
I told my aunt about this situation this morning too during a phone call. She's been going to Silver Springs at least since the 1950's as my grandfather used to bring his houseboat up river and stay for a day or two.

It is not that the NFSA doesn't care,in fact each of us personally has an opinion and concern. The NFSA is not a cave diving organization, but an organization focused on providing support for Peacock,Madison,Troy,Ichetucknee, and Lafayette. We have a contractural arrangement with the state with these parks being our limitation. If there is an opportunity to expand beyond our present mission, then we will give it serious consideration, but we are not able to exceed our mission at a whim. I greatly appreciate your efforts and communication.

I hope previous comment helped. Me as an individual has an interest, but the NFSA is unable to exceed its mission. The CDS is experimenting with email to its membership, and their involvement would be helpful.

Thanks Kelly. First let me say that no one, especially me, has a right to question your commitment to springs protection. I just found the silence curious.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Thanks. I really have an interest in what you guys have said. I remember seeing Silver Springs as a kid when my parents traveled through Florida, and probably of the reasons today why I like spring diving.
