    Default Telford Cleanup?

Drove by Telford today, river is lower than last week, could see a large boil on the surface. But......man, the trash is worse than it was when we did the spring NACD cleanup. We need to organize another cleanup. The dumpster that is there is full with twice as much trash piled around it.

When CBS out of Tallahassee did a piece on the two drowning deaths recently at Telford they showed all the garbage on the tv newscast.

Agree, but lets wait for the first snow. When first frost will harden some garbage (like those diapers with heavy load) and bugs will go to hybernate. Headspring is probably trashed with broken glass again...

    Default Who's responsible

Who is responsible for emptying the dumpster? I think most, but sadly not all are making an effort to use the trash can, but when it is over flowing and really nasty folks will just not bother. Is there someone to call when we notice it is full? Jack and I stopped to check out the spring Sunday and yes it was a mess mostly Bud lite bottles. I agree with ARY lets wait till it cools off and then We can have it clean for the winter. Maybe the locals will see it clean come next spring and try to keep it that way.

From what I have heard, in Suawnee County, the dump won't let you take your trash there unless you are current on your taxes. Most of these scumbags that dump trash at Telford are way behind on their taxes, and they dump their crap there. I guess you have to show proof of residency to go to the dump, and they can check on your tax status.

    Ahhh......*ell.....

It's my understanding that we're allowed go there only by the permission of the current landowner. If someone can organize a cleanup I will help if at all possible. If I can't physically go and pick up the trash, I'll throw some money at it for supplies, bags, etc. to help.

    Default trash dump

I own land and I am building on the river in Lafayette County, directly across from Running. I will be up there from the Keys in 3 weeks for the setting of the house. The stilts are in place now. When I get up there I can check on the dumpster and also where we can put the rest of the trash. It should be a little cooler then maybe. Since I own property and HAVE paid my taxes, maybe I can get some info. I am back and forth between the river property and Marathon, but would be glad to help if I can. I also have a small old pick up with "local plates" we can use - my redneck passport, as it were. Let me know who to contact when I have found out anything usefull. Look forward to meeting some of you soon! Linda
