Is there an official count? I think I know of 4 lives saved in 2012. I have only peripheral knowledge of that, and I don't know about previous years.
maybe there is something that we, as divers, can do for Edd to show our appreciation. Maybe collect donations to send him on a vacation or something...
what a great idea....the vacation thing I think he doesn't need but while there is no official aware, a trophy (BIG) for his contributions to cave diving, to man kind, and to my scuba equipment locker are forever appreciated. ok maybe not the locker part.....

I just said vacation because if I remember correctly, he was called back from a vacation early to do a rescue. I could be mistaken though.
The purpose of the awards was originally to show the state how safe cave diving can be. Having the award you suggest would have quite a bit of negative PR, in my opinion.

That may be it. Regardless, the man has put himself in danger to help folks that he wouldnt know if he passed them at the gas station. I think we could easily come up with something to show our appreciation to him.
