    Default whats with helmets?

Just curious why I see so many european divers wearing helmets with lights strapped all over them? I don't see too many american/N. Florida divers with gear configs. like this... just curious if they had a different philosophy or need for these pieces of gear.

Most European cave divers are cavers who learned to dive.

Most American cave divers are divers who happened to swim into caves.

Cavers wear helmets to protect themselves, and naturally kept them to dive.

I only wear a helmet if the dive (sump) is inside of a "dry" cave. I get too many heads turned if I wear one in Florida

And you should see how many heads turn when he wears his speedos.

Besides, screwing those lights directly to your skull is painful.

Oh boy, the helmet debate! I love that one! I wear a helmet all the time. Why you ask? I don't like rocks hitting my head. I dive a lot of dark water and small caves and even with a hood I have donated far too many blonde/grey hairs to rocks. I dive sidemount and that's were my back up lights are. Also I use the helmet lights to light up my computer and survey notes, very handy. Of course since you men think fashion and what your pals say about you is soooo important I can see why you don't go hard head like me. Cindy :P
