    Question WTB: Scubapro Frameless Mask

Anyone have an extra laying around? Or, any suggestions on similar? Thanks!

I bought two of them at DEMA a couple years ago for $25 each. They are very similar to the Scubapro version and I have no issues with them. I carry one in a side pocket as a back up mask.

Yeah, I saw those on flea-bay. I had two observations. The silicon isn't as shiny as bona-fide Scubapro. It is reminiscent of old rubber skirts--not sure if this reflects pliability or quality. Also, it looks like the skirt has a greater profile. Meaning, it looks like it is disposed further from your face giving rise to higher volume.

    What do you say, DAA?

    Cheers.

Any comments on the Atomic Frameless or SP Orbit?

I switched from the Scubapro Frameless to the Orbit, in part as I had a couple of the Scubapro Masks delaminate and leak at the mask/skirt interface. The Orbit sits closer to the face and offers an even better field of view given the larger lenses.

I had an extra Orbit that I used for the spare mask but it got washed away in Irene.

The generic masks I bought at DEMA had very minor differences from the Scubapro Frameless, but the materials and workmanship appeared to be identical and I suspect they were/are made in the same factory.

After examination, I think you're right. I found many identical re-branded masks. I'm sure there are just a couple-two-three of actual manufacturers in the world.

Until I can find an Orbit to try on, I went with a Cressi for $25(free shipping) for the simple boyish reason that it looked cool:

    Thanks, all.
