Alligator Hunting...Bonnet Springs?

While checking into the areas for alligator hunting I wondered why the FWC doesn't just issue a couple permits for Bonnet Springs?
Have folks decided that the alligator should be left to rule the place or is this some special type of area? Maybe only phd types are allowed to measure and record the alligators progress?

Alligators aren't the only issue there. Erosion control of the bank into the water is another. At the present time Bonnet is closed to recreational diving.

From what I understand, bonnet should be a nice dive now or soon.
