Just so i'm clear. You are swimming into a cave. You come to a double arrow marked jump. You place your cookie/REM on the main line BEFORE you arrive at the double arrows (not by much...maybe a foot) and then tie into the cookie itself (or the line between your cookie and the double arrows) and make the jump? Why wouldn't you do the same but place your cookie/REM AFTER the double arrow and tie your jump either into your marker or the space between? I would think that in a no VIZ situation, coming back to the main line and feeling the double arrows on your way out would be better than coming to your cookie (again no VIZ) and head out...maybe a couple hundred feet before you run into another arrow. I would think coming across a double arrow right away confirming you are exiting sooner rather than later is best...acknowledging that you may not elect to do it that way if the double arrows weren't pointing to your exit. Good discussion, regardless.

as far as I can tell, most folks are trained to put a cookie on the exit side. Otherwise, what's the point? If you come to a "T" in the gold line, do you put it further into the cave? Likely not, you put it on the exit side of the "T." IT's got to remain consistent or you can get yourself into trouble. My 2 cents on it, though I can understand the desire to feel arrows pointing the way out in zero viz.

I think a T and a jump are different. I see the value in consistency. Not sure it's applicable here though. Any other thoughts?

I tie a jump spool into the mainline and then drop a cookie on the exit side of it.

I tie in between the double arrows. No double arrows, drop an arrow and tie directly in to it. I'll put the arrow on the goldline in such a position that my jump intersects the goldline at 90 degrees. Jumping back on to the mainline I put a cookie on my jump line just before tying in the the goldline. Bolt snap always back on to the line I came from, for additional directionality. We have not talked about I GTFO cookies...

A cookie indicating I "exited the cave."

You missed the "I" in "I GTFO" cookie.

    Aptly named I think...
