I dove the crossunder (right?) to the aquaduct (upstream) a couple years ago. I recall the drop down into the aquaduct to be pretty sweet. The passage leading up to that was somewhat small for backmount, but not uncomfortable. Twists and turns, good fun. IIRC, the aquaduct is quite a bit larger than the crossunder (over?) and very pretty. I had a max of 125', 122min runtime.

Is this the "at the sign where the gold line in madison starts, tie on a cavern reel, go down a hill, around a large old metal spool, and then tie off to another line"???

If so, I swam about 20 minutes in on OC sidemount a couple of weeks ago. After the last flood, this tunnel collected a lot of dusty silt. Despite pretty reasonable technique, the swim back out was basically OKing the line the entire time. I remember the tunnels reminding me a bit of the tunnels to the waterhole in P1. Twisty and windy and hilly, similar composition and formations. Very cool.

Also - it was a new passage for me and I remember that a couple hundred feet in (???) the line changes from thick line to thin line, on a rock, under a pile of silt, basically untraceable by sight or touch due to the geometry. (I did a little digging on this rock to see if I could trace it on the way in, failed, clipped it, and moved on.) Take note of this on the way in so you don't potentially get concerned when you are coming back out in low viz.

    Default Aquaduct

The first time we dove it I recall we were narced after dropping in Aquaduct because almost missed a T to go back after swimming it upstream (to Courtyard direction). I would add some He, like 30%. I also remember falling rock on the way back on another dive and it was slightly syphoning. Crossunder is low and just before dropping in Aquaduct it kinda stops. Like Tom said - lots of sidemount side passage w/convoluted Ts.

Really??? There must have been someone else with you then.

Really enjoyed last Saturday, even with all the driving. Good luck with the launch!

I've always liked the Crossunder, if the sand buildup at the entrance will let you get in it. Distance to the end is about 1000 feet from the Rabbit Hole, teeing into the Aquaduct just under the state road 6 bridge. There's also a very nice circuit that picks up the Aquaduct at the Well and exits the Aquaduct downstream at the CU.

Wayne K. at Amigos is the authority for the back side of Madison. I would check with him if your interests have you pointed in that direction.

Rebreathers are something that we have to go to in order to dive the way we want to dive. They are not something we go to for any other reason.
