    Default Simple is good

    "On a second subject i'm thinking it might fly if to use slim rock climbing backpack with stripped pockets and clips, and put 2 small twins in it. Small fins may be hidden in between back and a backpack. Also i wonder if there is a way to paint camo on tanks and gear?" {Ary}

    Ary,

    I like your's & Forrest's idea of using a couple of side-mounted 30's, but again simplicity is the idea here, & the 'rock-pak' is another clean plan....I like that too. You don't need to camo any tanks or gear, just don't wear yellow, orange, red, or pink-!
    Also, you can call me anything you like, but please don't call me Sir-! You're too kind to me-!
    Take care & dive safe,

    Jack

    Default new finds

    "Sneaking in on private property " {Dewayne}

    Funny thing, I made no mention of broaching on private property-! I only spoke of finding new places-! I never said where either-!

    About 30s, simplicity, etc.

    I was talking about sidemouting them, not doubles. If you saw Jason's article in UWS about bare bones sidemount, it doesn't take much of a harness to hold 30s. Simple, light, and redundant. A similar system is used by sump divers, and people searching for new Cenotes in Mexico.

    Default belly bottle

    got in late on this thread but here it goes
    1)belly mount have you seen the size of my belly already 2)i love the idea of the small side mounted tanks, been playing with a couple of oms steel 45's and they feel great. And with my size they hide under my underarms reducing drag 3) a sharp knife does indeed skin a cat but you have to skin so many of them to get enough for a coat it seems hardly worth it. Ok that it iI think I am caught up.
    thanks
    oh and I almost forgot
    Cindy spanks why did you tell me this earlier i love a good spanking

    I have a set of steel 50's(same diamater as the 45's, but about 1.5" taller) that I use for shallow/short sidemount dives, or dives where I need smaller tanks to get through somewhere. They work great. The only downside is that I have to carry a fair amount of weight if diving those tanks dry or with a 7mil wetsuit.

    What is the most compact DIN valve with knob assembly, i wonder? Who makes it?

    Thinking of small aluminum tanks vs steel:
    - they need weights to compensate for positive buoyancy (at the end of the dive if you violated thirds) but when you unclip a tank you are not becoming suddenly positive therefore some little weight would be even beneficial.
    - easier to carry
    - volume sucks though, steels will yield more air
    - flat bottom seems to be not good to push them
    What do you people think?
