    Default It was crazy

I had some nut with a yellow rebreather go screaming by on my first dive........ oh wait that was my dive buddy Just kidding you Chip.
I don't know why but I'm just glad it was only the outer ear and not the middle that really hurts and takes a lot longer to get over. Three cheers for Neomycin Hip,Hip Horray.... ah forget it. Maybe August will be cooler than July since it was the hottest in recent history here.

If I remember correctly, I spent about $5 on the ingredients(almost a gallon between the three of them) AND a container to put it in(with a spout to dispense small amounts) about 2 years ago. I use it after every dive, and again before going to bed on days that I dive. I figure I've still got another few months on this supply, then it'll be time to buy more.

You can do it without the hydrogen peroxide(many people do), but I find that the peroxide gives you an indication as to whether or not your ear is clean. If you hear it bubbling, keep flushing until it stops.

All this just supports my theory that people are like manatees. Naturally dirty animals (ever see what they can do to a confined area). It takes some some work against nature and serious self-discipline to maintain cleanliness. Yuck. Someone saw a 'log' floating around out there?! Nasty! I'm going to go make some ear beer now just to be 'ready' for the next dive trip.

I can give you a little background on what I saw at Blue Springs on Sunday, July 24th, 2005:

The boil was pumping clear, but the run was silted out and over run by massive amounts of tubers (the most that I have ever seen at Blue Springs, Orange City). I couldn't see very far underwater in the run at all (I couldn't see the tubers on the surface). I tried to avoid contact with the tubers, i.e. I treated them like Manatee (tried to keep a 50' distance) and I only managed to get kicked in the head twice, by the tubers, while going down the run.

It's amazing; I have never seen the run at Blue Springs, Orange City silted out. We left at around 12:30 PM and the park was already closed due to being at capacity.

Overall it was a nice day. I got to meet some other divers, had a fun time, and finished using the rest of my scrubber (which was left over from an Eagles Nest dive with Mike Hawkins).

    Sunday 7/24/2005

    Dive 1:
    Time In: 9:32 AM
    Time Out: 10:09 AM
    Run Time: 37 minutes
    Max Depth: 118'
    Average Depth: 30'

    Dive 2:
    Time In: 11:12 AM
    Time Out: 12:02 PM
    Run Time: 50 minutes
    Max Depth: 119'
    Average Depth: 54'

    Default Bad Ear Too

Sorry to hear your ears were a problem after our dive Curt. I had this problem about three weeks earlier diving at Blue Spring. I started using "swimmers ear" solution since, but not until after a shot in the butt and alot of antibotics. Anyway I'd attach aa picture of you getting the ear infection, and of Chip in his rebreather, but I can't seem to find out how to attach a photo? Rodger

If you're using the "Swimmers Ear" stuff they sell at places like Walgreens, then look up in the thread and read all the posts about "Ear Beer". Use it. Cheap and it works!

    Default Blue Springs open

They opened again yesterday afternoon to swimmers and divers.

I would take care to get there very early and leave once the run gets kicked up. Think about what lies on the bottom there. I suspect lots of Manatee poop. Flush your ears when you ae done there are over the counter products and a recipe for ear beer on this thread.
Enjoy and let us know how it goes.

Hi Rodger … It was nice to dive with you. Try these photo tips:
