Default Blue Spring closed due to bacteria?

I heard that Blue Spring (Orange City) closed the spring down because of a bacteria outbreak... Anyone know anything about that?

    Default WOW what a coincidence

That’s funny after diving there with Chip and Rodger last weekend I came down with a nice case of swimmer ear. I’ve been on Neomycin all week.
Beware the grey water!!!! It was beautiful when we got there first thing but by 11:00 am it was nasty.
Are they concerned it is coming out of the spring or is it from the bather load?

    Default Confirmed

I called this morning the whole place is closed to swimming and diving.
They are still trying to determine the cause of the contamination. It is at the boil too, not just the swimming area.

OH GROSS! Sounds like somebody dumped something in a hole upstream.
    Sigh......

I've seen this a few times before during warm summers, when there are too many swimmers in the springs & even though it may be a 1st magnitude discharge, the spring run cannot handle all of the people in the water using it as a bathroom or whatever-! Also, it could be caused by fertilzer being used on the surrounding grounds for both bugs & weeds-! This is a good time to look elsewhere for places to dive.

Only a matter of time before we humans turn the St Johns into a simple outflow of Lake Apopka water...
