Default Road changes at pet cemetery

Just returned again from Mexico again and there have been huge road improvements from the highway to Pet Cemetery. When we were there in Decemeber they had started work.

The road is now improved as far as the 90 degree This leaves about 1.5 kms of rough road which is a huge improvement. It appears the road repairs will go as far as THE PIT.

The only problem is there is more damage in the cave then what I have seen in the last few years when it was harder to get in there. There was 3 other cave teams there which I have never seen there at the same time.

If you are going insure you travel through the cave without doing damage

I think back to years ago trying to get in with a small car.

Now we just need the road to Dreamgate improved.

    Or perhaps we don't.

Improved roads bring nothing good to caves, only more money to the landowners. Destruction of the natural habitat in the name of greed and convenience - what's new really?

Maybe more money to the land owners would give them a fighting chance to defend against the pollution and destruction down stream?

Not really - some of the most "well off" cenotes appear to be the greatest habitat polluters and greed appears to be the only driving force - it's all quite sad actually.

As I stated there is more teams there then I have ever seen before plus more damage, but is it all cave divers causing the damage. there was a large group of ATV tourists snorkelling the snorkel area which is in the middle of the cavern-If you know the cave you will understand the location. This happens 6 days a week
The way they were pushing around and playing in the snorkelling area which has great impact. I do not believe it is all cave divers causing the damage but tourist companiea like above which use the rough road as part of their jungle tour.

More money for Pet Cemetary admission? We paid $25 USD per diver in Jan 2012. The year before, admission was $15...not sure about before 2010, but not enough to remember.

You betcha --- the road improvements will make it easier for tourist buses bearing snorkelers.

Of course, the marble ban~o in the jungle justifies the admission price.
