    Default Refresher tips

    Hello all,

I'm going to be heading down to Florida to try cave diving there late December/early January. At that point I won't have been in a cave since March of this year, unless something changes drastically. A couple days diving with an instructor to refresh everything in my mind is probably a great thing. I would like to have a "refresher" course as it were. Does anyone have any advice for good instructors for this?

I will probably be able to squeeze in 4-5 days of diving. What are the must-do's for someone who is certified at the intro level?

    Thanks in advance,

    Kristopher

    Just for starts

    Peacock
    JB
    Twin
    Hole in the Wall
    Ginnie
    And Little River

Peacock is awesome for intro because it is shallow and the goldline is very conducive for intro diving.

Hole in the wall is kind of deep but you will hit turn pressure before you hit a T in the line

Twin cave is shallow but there is a T at 1000' but you should be at sixths by then anyway

JB is kind of deep and there is a T at 1100' I think, but you should hit turn near the T

Little river is not a great intro dive because you hit a T around 600' but it is worth a look

Ginnie is a good intro dive, but it is high flow so if you don't know where to swim you will hit sixths pretty quick

Madison is great for Intro as well. Especially if you subscribe to the 1/6th - 1/4th rule, since it's a ways from fills.

Check with Bobby, he is a great guide and mentor. I know that for a fact, he was very patient with me doing some sm stuff. He is the kind of guy you will learn from by listening and watching, damn cool guy to hangout with and have a couple beverages with after the dive.
Also check him out on uwlightdude.com, if you need a new light this is the guy you need to talk to.

Only you would know if you need a refresher. You could go over your manuals again and follow all the rules set forth. A predive check of your gear is very important [isolator open] etc. Then check your trim and buancy in the openwater or cavern entrance followed by running your reel to the gold and specialized finning techniques. s drll, bubble check and record tuen around pressure on your wrist slate. You should get some pointers from your dive buddy as well. Remember to anticipate problems and remedies and have fun!

    Default Guided dive

You might want to just hook up with a good guide/mentor for a day or two.......Edd at Cave adventureres on the Millpond ( JB, Hole in the Wall and twin all right there) comes to mind.

Thanks for the advice, guys. I appreciate the recommendations. I'll definitely be bringing this up as the time gets closer and I'm looking for buddies.
