With the river dropping, I would be willing to bet there is a positive outflow. The big question is, is it black river water, or clear aquifer water.

I dove Eagles Nest on Friday. It was dark and very BLACK with 5-10 ft visibility, and conditions did not change 500 feet upstream... not worth it.

3 years and 3 days ago I made my first Florida cave dive at Manatee Springs. The flow was ripping and visibility was not that great, quite a shock after the no-flow, crystal clear caves of Mexico.

Today I returned to stellar conditions, very little flow and 80-100' visibility. Awesome dive!

Drove by Little River today. Park still closed due to flooding. There is still about 6" of water flowing across the road at the low point between the gate and the parking lot. The parking lot is dry. Skeeters were out in full force, and having donated my pint already today, I ran for cover rather than splash across the road to check out the basin.

But suffice it that the river level is still way up. The flow from the cave would have to be impressive to counter the river height.

In Live Oak, Florida we got 25 to 30 inches of rain from Debby. We have sinkholes falling in all over the county and in the city. We are now watching the Suwannee County Courthouse for it to fall into a sinkhole on the north side, everyone and all records have been moved out. The city is still moving water from one area to another place. Mosquitoes are bad with all the water around. Live Oak, FL was on the Weather Channel with Jim Cantore, you know when he comes it must be bad.

It may be open, but visibility is 20' at best. There's a really weird tannic layer in the second dome room that drops vis down to 0. It's a completely different cave right now,..

The vis in the Devils' system is around 50 feet now.

Dove at Manatee on Sunday morning. The cave is back to it's usual ways... increasing flow and darker :-(

Fortunately, I did get to dive it at least once a few weeks ago when the conditions were perfect.
