FW, *you* might have had 15' downstream, but I didn't. More like about 5'.

No, I didn't get the tanks refilled. Most places would only give me 100 psi more than I've got left from Sunday. I stopped in the shop by the guy who gave me that card with your old student's name, but they were closed. I guess I was too early? Doubt he would have given me a cave fill, but I figured it was worth a shot.

I did unspool the line and reel it back up a little tighter.

One computer gave the temp at 55 degrees, the other at 56.

I am back home early. We were supposed to dive today, but a line of storms came through last night, and trashed half the state of WV

No power, which means no fuel, or food. I planned to head south, but there were no roads open. Next best way would have been west, then south, but no power, or fuel that way, and I was down to 1/8 of tank. I ended up going east, to get fuel, then south through VA. It was a couple hours longer, but at least I made it, and got some junk food at the only open gas station for miles. A lot of NSS members lost their tents, and some had major damage to their cars. Gene and I were camped together, and our tents and cars were fine. Barbara (Squirrel Girl) had her tent smashed. Luckily her car wasn't near by.

We spent the night in an evacuation center, and left early this morning.

Glad you're home OK, FW. I made it back a few hours ago and took a long nap. I took some back roads to check out "River Underground." Lots of area w/o power along the route. I bought gas anytime I was down by about 3-4 gallons and I saw a station with power and not too long of lines. In one town, there were multiple guys in hi-viz vests and flags directing cars into the one station (for miles) that was open and had gas.

River Underground just has the river disappear in the boulders, then rises back again a little ways down. It didn't say "cave" to me. Interesting to stop and see, though. I saw a doe and her fawn about 70 yards down, stop for a drink.

The power went out in the middle of the awards ceremony. They tried to finish it, but with no microphone, it was hard to hear anything. It did't help any that people that couldn't hear well, kept talking

We got lucky, after we got our tent out of a tree we left Friday night. We had to drive down the road everyone said was closed and around (and under) some downed trees, but made it to the highway that night, and to a hotel about an hour west. In the morning there was no fuel there, but we ran the tank low, and there was fuel and power another hour west of there at 9am. They ran out just after we left there. By our next stop 3 hours later, there were no issues. Glad to hear you had no damage.

The place I stopped was low on fuel, and a station nearby, was out. The place I stopped at had set the pumps to only sell $50, but it was enough to get me to SC, and $2.85/gal fuel
