I bought this in 2009 from its original owner (in Luxembourg). This is a sidemount mCCR that evolved from the ‘Joker’ sidemount SCR designed by Frederic Badier. The Joki design has been used for some impressive cave dives in Europe, most notably in a dual configuration by Xavier Meniscus, a French cave diver and explorer. I have used it as a true primary mCCR sidemounted with both diluent and oxygen cylinders attached to it, but there are many ways of configuring this unit depending on your needs (e.g. as a bailout rebreather). It is ready to dive with new oxygen cells, all pneumatics, KISS MAV, and non-compensated O2 1st stage. You just need oxygen and diluent cylinders.
The unit is located in Gainesville, Florida.
Specs:
- Airtess sidemount DSV
- 2.2 kg (4.85 lb) axial scrubber: duration up to 4 hours
- single (inhale) counterlung within case with OPV
- 2 recently-installed (last 2 weeks) oxygen sensors with original PO2 display (or can use Shearwater with included cable)
- constant mass-flow oxygen addition system with blanked Apeks DS4 1st stage, OPV, and Kiss MAV connected by Swagelok QC4 connector
- built-in ADV supplied by offboard diluent (e.g. other sidemount) via shut-off valve and QC6 connectors. Diluent 1st stage not included but all hoses are. Any standard 1st stage will work.
Spares and accessories:
- Spare counterlung
- Main body sealing O-rings
- P-port plugs and caps to seal scrubber
- Fischer cable for PO2 display on Shearwater etc.
- Spare O-rings for the Airtess DSV
- Oxygen flowmeter for setting basal oxygen flow rate
Warning: do not buy this rebreather unless you are an experienced mCCR diver. There is no training course and no certification. It is perfectly capable of killing you if you don’t know what you are doing.
