    Default Adjusting first bpw

Have my bpw together and had a tank on it last night to see how it rides, I realize out of the water it will be somewhat different but it was hanging really low. So I adjusted the shoulder straps and crotch strap and got it to where my inflator hose feels natural. While its not cutting off the circulation tight its snug does this sound like a good place to start? We are going to get the gear wet (finally) this weekend and work just off shore to start dialing it in.

I really do not have anything to go off which is fine I can figure things out fairly well just wanted to get some input.

Question 2: We are for now using the DR 16lb weight pouches I have them on the waist belt horizontal for now. Anyone else using these? Are you just using keepers (SS) to hold the one end on and not the side with the buckle to release the weight?

    Hope this makes sense.

    Thanks

Nope - tighten it up a little more.

If this was sb, the first response would have been "sell it and buy a sm harness"

Its usually good to have the wing ride low with the tank riding high. That puts lift aft and more weight forward. It will need fine tuning once your in the water since there are variables but horizontal trim is what you want the end result to be. Good Luck.

It's one of those things that the DIR guys tie to themselves with that really akward continuous strap. To me it seems more like s&m than it does diving.

If you adjust the straps so that the inflator hose is where you like it when you are standing with a tank on, it's likely you have the shoulder straps too tight. Remember that gravity drags the thing down your back on land, but when you are horizontal in the water, it will not ride as low. You can actually let the straps be pretty loose, if you take up the slack with the crotch strap. The limiting factor is how far down your tanks can ride and still allow you to reach your valves.
