A buddy of mine has directed me to a site just down from Smoke Hole Caverns in WV, in the ravine just off the road.
Has anyone dove here?
Thanks!

If you have a better location I can put you in touch with some WVACS cavers that have a better idea of the history of what's been done up there. FW did most of the sump diving while he lived there. There's been a few other major players that came and went, but generally they were all somehow connected in with the WVACS guys.
Send FW or me a PM and I'm sure we could get you better info.

I'm not familiar with it (which is possibly of no surprise).
A smidge more info might be helpful...
If / when you come to the area let me know, be glad to be of support. There is a WVACS fieldhouse in Lewisburg (WV area cave studies) that I can host you at, but is a couple hours south of where you are wanting to be at.
Feel free to PM me with your email and we can try to reach out to some of the groups/people active in that area.

I'm the in NY, but travel to VA regularly and really want to do some exploring again. If there is anything there i'll definitely want a few buddies!
I'm also quite open to suggestions on what to go check out...
By chance are you coming to the NSS convention in Lewisburg?
small but possibly worthy side note
Until I see it, I'll be planning on a support role... I like caving, and I like diving in Florida caves, but so far I haven't been swayed into sumps... Guess we all have to know what we like to do.
Meantime I'll send a couple notes out to friends and see what info comes back

It looks like you've gotten quite a few offers to help with this project but I'll throw my hat in as well. I'm about an hour away from there in Harrisonburg VA and I'm willing to fill whatever role is necessary, sherpa, diver, logistics...
I love you guys!!! I haven't even seen the surface yet. Had a beer with a buddy who swam there and thought there might be cave, but has no real idea.
Let's try this: put together a list of suggested leads, go take a quick look and see if scuba, or full on exploration is justified. I'd be delighted to make it a mission oriented road trip.
If anyone in the area, just take a gander here (via Google Maps):

I'd do just about anything to have a Project Cave within easy driving distance from NYC or my Dad's place near Front Royal, VA, OR anywhere in between via the Scenic Route....![]()
It's hard to believe that this hasn't been looked at. Maybe 20 years ago? Or more?
Land of Enchantment -- not so great for cave diving, but mighty scenic!
