Houston area cave divers meet-up

Hi all you Houstonians, Galvestonians, and anyone else who might think of yourselves as 'Houston area'.

After bamafan's recent post, it occurred to me that there are probably a good number of cave divers in this general area that have never met. I for one have only met a few, not that I've been at it for very long in this recreation.

Would you local folks have any interest in meeting up sometime? Maybe even something like a meet-and-dive at one of the local lakes, have some barbecue, etc.?

I live in San Antonio, but I love to drive there for a meet and dive. I am always looking for new places to dive locally.

As long as I dont have a class scheduled, I'm in and I can pass the word to several who dont keep up on CDF.

Yes, that's just what I was thinking. Mid- to late June is what occurs to me to give a chance for word to get around and get things fleshed out.

My thought is that anyone who wants to come would be perfectly welcome. If it's in a public place, the "beverages" may be limited until an after-party, but I'm sure love will find a way on that score.

I believe this weekend I'll try my hand at setting up a website for the event, something that might help keep track of planned attendees, display announcements so that non-CDF members can stay updated, etc. Hopefully I won't be getting in way over my head with that.

I'll post back about the site when there's something to show.

If this germinates nicely there will be other things to do beyond what one person can do alone. I don't have anything specific to ask for right now but if you're of a mind to pitch in, there will undoubtedly be some todos that can be handed out.
