Civil Posting or else...

The moderators and most of you, the members, try to keep things civil on this forum, but it seems to me that there is a significant shift to more uncivil posts.

Personally, I think we just need to weed out those uncivil folks, long term or permanently, no warnings... they don't seem to work... just do it. I also think that the term 'uncivil' should include Incitative and provocative postings.

Thoughts?

While some of the bickering and trolling for reactions do get old, I think some of it is needed to help spice things up a little bit. Flat out dickery is another thing altogether though.

I'd rather not see a heavy handed response to the posts. One persons definition of uncivil may be considered fine by others. I think the mods are doing a good job of weeding out the problem posts.
Some of the current discussions regarding deaths, violations of standards and access are by definition going to creep through comfort zones, however those discussions are important to have.

I've been attacked by folks several times, but it's the internet for gosh sakes...who really cares what someone types, and many times I enjoy reading points of view that are totally opposite of my own. If someone is irritating others can ignore them, or not read through the thread.

Of course you own the board and can do anything you'd like. I just hope you error on the side of allowing speech/type that is somewhat uncomfortable rather than bleaching the pool till it's a boring shade of grey.
