no, he'd use a little LSD, a little crystal meth, and a bit of wild turkey.

serially though, some have used pea gravel from home depot.

light rust may best be removed with a whip connected to a drill.

Get in touch with a local metal finishing supplies place and you may find the aluminum oxide significantly cheaper. It likely won't be a stocked item, because the mesh is much larger, (which would I believe make it a smaller number for example sorb for a rebreather the 4-8 is a larger grain than the 8-12), than is normally used in industrial applications. I bought a pile of the stuff several years ago for around $1/lb. IIRC you'll need 25-30lbs for a 72.

You can get some cheap media, that's big, from harbor freight. it's not intended for this but it works surprisingly well (besides being difficult to get out).

You might want to ask gasdiver how long it took him to get it out of the tank. The media is short "rods" of stone, about 3/8" dia, and 3/4" long. They are pretty easy to get into the tank, but jam up when you try to dump them out
