Peacock is closed for diving

Janet just called, the river is coming up quick and the vis is blown. They are closed for diving until further notice Hopefully it won't be long....

Wow, I was just there on tuesday, and it was perfect. Could see all the way to the bottom.

With Ginnie being closed too, it sounds like nothing around there is diveable right now, except maybe Manatee(which is usually still diveable when every place else is blown out).

Just got off the phone with Ginnie..they state they're open this weekend. Of course, the Santa Fe is dark, but what else is news?

The Ear and the Eye can be full of river water(which makes a long deco a joy, unless you're drysuiting it). Just as long as the entrances and cave system are clear, right?

Did a long scooter at Ginnie this morning and a couple of swims this afternoon. Vis is great and the tarp's been up a while so the run is still clear, although the vis above the Ear is negligible....Hope this helps people out with plans!

Who gives a shite about whether the water is clear or not? Wouldn't the river water be warm? Maybe you're afraid it will make you turn orange.

Actually, the river water tends to be noticably colder than the spring water. That's why a long deco in a wetsuit is not fun.

This time of year the river water is as warm or warmer. By late August it may be like bath water.

Of course with the additional rain it may be a little cooler then usual but even last week I got out of the daive and headed for the tannic. It wasn't much better then the spring water yet though.

So in the summer and fall I deco in the ear and deco in the winter and spring in the Eye.
