I think we are all getting the same form letter reply, but its nice to see a response, and some of the language is encouraging. Below is what they sent me...

    "Office of Citizens Services OfficeofCitizensServices@dep.state.fl.us

Thank you for contacting the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) regarding cave diving in Wakulla Spring located in Wakulla Springs State Park.

It is important to note that a final decision to include limited recreational cave diving in Wakulla Spring has not yet been made. In a continued effort to do what is in the best interest of the park as well as our park visitors, the Florida Park Service will continue to evaluate the proposal. Should a plan be developed for the inclusion of limited diving opportunities in Wakulla Spring, it will address all of the concerns that have been brought to the DEP’s attention.

Additionally, if a plan is developed, DEP will host another public workshop to hear from the community. If a decision is made to move forward to provide recreational cave diving at this site, DEP is required to propose an amendment to the Unit Management Plan for Wakulla Springs State Park which would provide an additional opportunity for public input.

Currently, there is no set timeframe for determining whether a plan to include limited diving opportunities will be developed.

To truly respect the value of this precious resource as well as the desire for access, we will honor our time-honored process of careful park planning, as required by the Florida Park Service’s mission.

Again, thank you for taking time to contact DEP.

    Respectfully,

    Office of Citizen Services

Yep, that is the same form letter. I don't mind a form letter at all, I am just happy we are getting some form of response.

Sounds to me they are tabling the idea. Postponing the decision for a future date. Who knows when or if they will develop a plan.

    Just my 2 cents.

    I don't think that is what's happening.

a plan is being developed and meetings continue but the people in attendance just aren't posting about it

Sometimes the people in attendance didn't even know they were there!

"How did the Wakulla meeting go last Friday?"
    "What Wakulla meeting?"
"The one a week ago that you attended."
    "Ohhh! That one!"
    - an excerpt from a WCDC conversation a few months ago

Things are certainly happening, I just wish there was some more transparency.

AJ, if you don't want people making fun of you because they have toe fungus older than you are, then you shouldn't make fun of old people for forgetting what they did a week ago.
