The river has receded nicely and the basin at Little River was very inviting. Not wanting to be rude, I accepted the invitation!
The parking lot was quite full of folks out enjoying the gorgeous weather. I used up someone's good luck when I managed to snag a front row parking space! Things are looking GOOOOOOD!
I saw no other divers, nor evidence of any. The basin was very clear, even with the swimmers. The water has receded from the sidewalk, leaving an icky muddy section between the sidewalk and the water's edge. Inside the cavern, I could feel the flow and see the particulate being blown out of the cave. The cavern was a little murky, but not as bad as I expected. The tunnel heading toward the chimney was beautiful! The viz was about 30', but the floor was covered with silt. No bare white rock! The entire little room at the top of the chimney is coated with dark gray silt. It was like diving a new cave. The chimney and forward into the cave had 40-50' of viz, with a steady of flow of particulate being pushed out. All of the white places on the floor were covered with silt.
As I returned to pick up my reel, I looked up toward the bright clear day. Instead of the usual crystal clear image of the cavern opening, I saw what seemed like a huge green halocline. It was beautiful! Definitely not the typical, but quite nice.
On the surface, I chatted with lots of curious folks out enjoying the day. As I carried up my deco and stage bottles, two very sweet teenaged boys insisted they help me by carrying my (um, well, Marbry's) HEAVY 108s up the stairs. What sweeties!
