I still have the canoe that is full of dents where one of those non aggressive Cotton Mouths fell from the limb of an overhanging tree into the canoe. It was not trying to get away, unless it thought the way out was through me.
I broke the paddle into small pieces and had to paddle back with my hands, I was about ten or twelve at the time. Luckily I did not have my shotgun with me.

I did watch a guy empty a handgun trying to hit a small copper head, after which I grabbed a shovel and .......
