FYI... to those considering diving Boiling Springs in Texas County (the one you can just walk across the stream to). It is seriously plugged. We had a few folks visit it just recently. They spent some considerable effort trying to move rocks etc to get in, but had to give up. Seems with every rock moved, more would just fall in. The effort was abandoned. I believe following some severe flooding, a lot of large rocks were pushed into the opening, which is now causing some serious rate of flow coming out of there. If you go, take a lot of people ready to spend some time moving lots of rocks.

I dove Roub last on Aug 30, one day before Isaac hit. It was some of the vis I have seen there in many years. Flow was almost nill. I'm not surprised to hear that surface conditions look good. We didn't get that much rain in comparison to how low the water tables are around here - we're in drought conditions not seen in 80+ years. My further guess is that even with a little more rain, it will still be diveable - just not sure how vis will be affected.

On Aug 30, made a dive out past the 3rd drop. As already mentioned, vis was very good (30 ft). The Big Room actually looks big! I saw stuff I've never noticed before. Temp is 57, which is a little low for this time of year. Speculation is that due to drought, no warmer water has been brought into the system.

I booked the Star for Thursday night. I am staying Saturday night (maybe Sunday Night) at the Super 8 in Popular bluff. Where is everyone staying Friday night?

I like to stay as close as possible to the workshop site, drive to waynesboro eary friday am, return to st charles for friday night, and saturday night. then leave early sunday to drive to cannonball. either stay in poplar bluff sunday night, or drive on home depending on how late it gets and how tired I get. I have no idea exactly where I'll be staying - I work that out tomorrow.

trouble is Roubi is in Waynesville about 2 hrs from workshop which is two hours from Popluar bluff in another direction. As much as I would perfer one place its easier and cheaper to switch hotels

Thanks Bob, and Ken for all your hard work on this. I will see you Friday evening (if not while diving, Friday am).
