Default Double braided kelvar 6 inch high pressure hoses

Has anyone had any experience with 6 inch double braided hp hose in sidemounting, as sold by dive gear express?

I use the Phantom HP hoses I got from CA. They have lasted me longer then the Mileflex did and longer then the rubber ones. I used to get only a year and half worth of my kind of dives with the others and I have gotten 2 and half years with the Phantoms.

With dives in FL, MO, Coz, and other nice tight spots, they seem to do the best for me.

I'll agree with you there Slim. I put a pair of braided hoses on my primary's recently (because it seemed like the way to go), and I just feel better about dragging them through the tough stuff. Now, that's not to say that a year or two from now I'll be able to see the real damage I've done to the hose, and that might be the benefit to using the older style, rubber hose. I've taken some care to rotate the tank connections, and try to get the hoses up a bit higher on my profile. They lay flat, pointing towards my fins, so I've really had good luck at keeping them intact for years, without a failure. I'm also using them more often with 45 cu/ft tanks, because of what I do, and that's also some streamlining.

Do they hang down limp, or are they stiff when pressurized?

They're a little softer than the rubber ones, but not limp like the Miflex.

Great thanks. I have some of the phantom LP hoses, and like them. I currently have Miflex 6" HP and they look like nipple rings hanging below me. I had to tie them back like stage bottle SPG's. I am about to place another order with CA and will pick some of these up since they stay still.

Combine 6" Phantom hoses with 1.5" mini gauges AND Genesis angle modular valves (the Holy Grail among Sidemounters); valve outlets down-hoses pointed forward, then you'll have the gauges just protruding up from your armpits. Clean and super easy to read.

Sounds nice. Those dang valves are hard to find though.

The phantom wil stay rigid and straight. Just might have to think about witch HP outlet you use to get it to point in the right direction.

I've got a couple of the Phantom ones and so far, so good. Edd has the little mini HOG gauges at Cave Adventurers and they are easy to read and really small.
