Would be nice to have some sort of comparison, maybe a locked thread with the river stages and what cave goes when as well as some average river levels every couple months. I remember how low it was but don't remember what the actual ft mark was at this time. Just a thought!

There's more factors to it than just river level, you also have to account for what the aquifer is currently doing(or not doing at the moment).

I dove Little River on Wednesday. The water level was up, which is a good thing given the drought, and the visibility was 100'+, minus the areas with two groups of cave students doing lights out/air sharing drills. The flow is way down, to the point of slightly syphoning when you hit the 'Duh room.

I can't imagine it's "blown" yet, given that I've dove it when the parking lot was flooded, but we have some rain due this afternoon/evening and as I mentioned, the flow was down..

I remember the days when you ran your primary line off the bumper of your car because it was so flooded, and once you got to the cavern it was crystal clear. That is when the aquifer was well charged, and in those days when a full set of 104s might get you to the Florida Room. With the flow so low,the last few reversals have happened so easily, and then it seems to absord a lot of tannic water, which takes months to blow out. If Little River syphons a lot,I have a feeling it will be sometime before it is clear.

I think it was three years ago in February that Tracy and I came down for two weeks when Peacock, Little River, Cow, Telford, and Madison were all flooded out. We had a great trip with plenty of diving - Jackson Blue, Twin, Hole in the Wall, Manatee, and Jug Hole as well as Ginnie. Manatee in particular is likely to be at its best when the rivers are high.

Indeed! The best dives I've ever had in Manatee was when most everything else (in Luraville area) was flooded out.

It's bad luck to be superstitious.

I was told Little River is not divable right now but that Peacock is still okay. I have a few people going to Peacock right now and are going to let me know how it is. So I will keep you posted.

FWIW -- Manatee was clear and blue last Sunday, but with there was a lot of crap in the water. 60-70' visibility probably. And the new pool ladder that was installed in Catfish over the winter is really nice.

Got confirmation from an instructor today that Little River is definitely not good, he went in looking for the gold line hoping to find clear water and did not.... Peacock on the other hand I just got confirmation from two people diving there today that all is still crystal clear

Wendy Thurman just sent me these of Lil River. She just took them... She described it as siphoning and nasty...
