Thread: Diepolder

We had some wonderful weekend diving/camping trips back in the old days. Mr. and Mrs. Diepolder were such gracious hosts. They always were eager to talk to us about what we had seen in "those holes" and would just sit there shaking their heads in wonder when we described the beauty of the cave.

I have seen visibility the way Steve Straatsma described it and those dives are some of the most awesome I have ever done. Good memories. Now I need to dive it with the proper gas!

    Default Diepolder III

I just dove diepolder for the first time today. I too am a new kid on the block. My 21 watt video light that normally lights up a cave was overwhelmed by the great size of the underground macroporous space!!

I stayed near the ceiling and videoed it , some side walls, and briefly a blind crayfish.

It is truely awe inspiring! Run time 84 minutes on EAN 38, TRI 15/50, EAN 38, EAN 83.

Thank you to a great guide!

Good diving and best wishes to all.

Very good to hear. Are you going to share your vid?? hint, hint,...lol

I'm happy that it has stayed the way people remembered it. It's a looong drive from here. So (without jinx ) it will be around for some time.

Here is part of list, of some of the guides. There were a few mentioned in here ( later posts )
Larry Green - lgreen at atlantic.net Lloyd Bailey - info at lloydbaileysscuba.com
Johhny Richards - johnny at cavediving.com (looks like Kenny Rogers,
And last but not least John at jpscuba.com
    There are more-guides
Pay a couple bucks, to join the FSR people (through your guide, they have the paper) Have your safe 100 dives stamp- show your certs in mix, now these details, depends on the guide. (a CF is still a CF)
Then go play around in the water, so they can check you out, to make sure you are capable of controling yourself. Then from there on out, anytime you want to go, get ahold of your guide. And no worrys, straight diving.

I found a website, that i stuck in the blog, that had alot of the caves around there. The web page also had more guides, but i dont know them. An if there is a problem, you can always bail out to another site. fair distance drive. Its just the orginal drive down there thats extremely boring.

(im new,so this is all i have right now.. .. Dive Safe and have fun

Try www.floridacaves.com/diepolder.htm for more information and a list of the guides. I know that Bill Main and Rob Anderson are both excellent guides and dive there a lot. Cindy
