I've done Diepolder 3 a couple dozen times and I never get tired of seeing it,and will see something new each time. I will share a story I remember hearing. Before trimix this system was dove on air. A couple guys placed a giant sized line arrow in the back at 270' where the lines come together. When they took a friend in there (on air) the guy commented about how huge the line arrow was and kept insisting, but they told him he was just narced.

I have only been there one time with Lloyd Bailey. It's a fantastic cave. Huge rooms.. Anyway I was training to be a guide at Alachua and Jim Taylor who was the cheif guide at that time wanted me to dive with every one of the other guides. I ended up missing two but this was my dive with Lloyd. He was training a new guide, there were four of us. Lloyd is an incredibly fast swimmer. The four of us took off and the other two were looking really good, perfect cave diver swimming. I am a bit of a mess with my frog kick, Lloyd looks like he was born in a cave. Lloyd and I were in the front, Lloyd out swam all of us, when we got to the large room I just put my head down and started swimming like an open water diver. I finally caught up with Lloyd, he seemed a little surprised at the time. I made sure that I stayed just at the edge of his eyesight so he couldn't see I was just full out kicking! At the end of the room I put the brakes on to look at the break down and the flag in the cave. I thought I saw a lead but was unable to check it out because I was on air and already at 200 feet (it was while ago, I dive the proper gas now) By the time I got through looking at it Lloyd was almost out the room and the two other divers still hadn't caught up. I put my head down and charged back to Lloyd. Looking back I realise 1. should have ignored Lloyd and enjoyed my dive 2. been on mix and I could have checked out that lead 3. am very lucky to have a good regulator man so my regs were perfect or I couldn't have kept up or I would have overbreathered that reg. My solution now would be proper gas, more gas, more time and so what if I do extra deco? Later, Cindy

The flag on the first dive is a good distance. Are you still a guide there? Or too busy with your other jobs. I saw Larry's and few others that i can recall.
I guess i could say awe (if thats how you spell it)

Actually we did the entire circuit on that dive. I was training at that time to be a Alachua guide. I enjoy deep diving but don't like doing it that much at my age and weight. It's just to chancy, I want to retire from my diving hobby without getting more than a case of skin bends. Bill Main is a guide there as well as Rob Anderson. Both of those men are a lot of fun to be around and do a lot of guiding. I hate I'm not diving this weekend. Maybe I'll just stand out in the rain and pretend! lol, Cindy

I hope it's clear for you! HID lights should be fantastic in there. Even with my old 50 watt halogen I could see across the room. It's pretty cool! I know you will have a blast! Cindy
