I don't know how anyone could get cold in a florida cave, I wear a trilam shell suit with one layer of underarmor cold gear and I get a little on the warm side if I have to do any work. Of course the girl friend is wearing her 400g undergarment and a trilam in the water next to me and some how feels like she is freezing to death.
The way I get cold is doing multiple dives over multiple days. It always catches up with me. Even in Coz, I wear a full 3 mil. After 2 days I am beginning to get cold at the end of a long drift dive. Not moving, air lasts long time...it takes a toll on me. Same in NFL caves. Several days and I start adding a little more to my layer.
When you're there you know there's a There there.

I am a cold water weenie. When I was diving wet I would be freezing if I did two dives a day. I despise the cold. It is the reason I moved from Wisconsin, to Georgia, and then to Florida. I get cold diving here in Cuba after two 1.5 hour dives in 83 degree water in a 1mm. Of course it is only a 1mm, but still. I almost had my drysuit shipped to me! LOL...
It's not the years in your life that matter, but the life in your years.
When I was on a live a board in Belize, the DM there was wearing a full 7mil. Everyone is different, doesnt make anyone more or less of a person. Dive how you need to in order to be safe.
