Default My hope for 2012: Zero cave diving fatalities

1)To the older cave diver-get that over due physical
2)To the untrained cave diver- there are more training agencies than I can count,no excuse,if your going to do it get trained
    3) To the novice cave diver-the caves will be there next week, next month, and next year; slow down and develop the experience
4)To the less than full cave trained- seems so easy and the limitations seem to be a hinderance, but remember somebody died which resulted in the rules we have.

    Safe year for 2012

    Kelly, you forgot one-

    5) To the well trained and experienced cave diver - You can make a mistake. Don't get cocky. Don't be stupid.

Good point. I would counter with do we ever have enough experience or training to be cocky. Once we feel we do,that is when Mr Murphy is waiting to humble you (or hopefully Mr Reaper is taking you to see your maker)

    Kelly,
Shouldn't that be "not taking you"?

UH-OH, what if you fit in ALL four categories? Does that mean I'm doomed? OK maybe not #2, but it's still a majority
Usually in the more technical things, it's complacency that gets people more than anything else

    Great post!

To the explorer . . . Your memory will be longer-lasting and more impressive if you have a longer career. Today's dive isn't worth dying for.

    #1- twice this year
    #2- done
    #3- doing it
    #4- will do in April
