Since were moving this way maybe you could help me. I'm interested....explain to me how a LP95 is better than a 117 or a LP104 is better than a 130?
Do the math!
A LP95 is 96.6 at 2650, and 124.9 at 3442, vs a 117 which is only 117 at 3442.
A LP104 is 106.2 at 2650, and 137.9 at 3442, vs a 130 which is only 130 at 3442.

My Faber HP 133 has the same external dimensions as a Faber LP 108, but at 3600 psi it pretty much holds the same gas volume as an LP 95...
A LP tank hydros around 4500ish and a HP tank hydros at 5800ish. I have access to a compressor that fills to 6000, I could probably get away with filling my HP bottles to 4500 without doing much damage to them and I could hold around 160-170 cu ft in my 133s, but I don't because that would wear out my regs really fast and it would be illegal to transport them on a public road
Overfilling any LP tanks is illegal to fill and to transport.
So...for 7 cu/ft more gas, other than in cave country, you have to hassle with getting anything more than 95 cu/ft of gas with illegal fills.... Most of the time you will get a 2650 fill than will could to say 2450 psig or 2500 psig so you have less gas than even 95 cu/ft. At least with the 117, after cooling one has more than that. Am I seeing this correctly? It just seems that the only way that there is any positives to a LP is if you always what to be purposely, and illegally, over filling the tank, and to do that one has to either have their own fill station and always use it to fill, or always fill or dive in cave country. Seems that for 7 cu/ft of gas it is ridiculous to purposely over fill a tank, all legalities, risk, and liability aside, and then have to hassle with it every where else you go except cave country? BTW.... I have several sets of both, but still do not really see the point in LP tanks except for O2 bottles or if one has to PP fill which is why LP tanks came into vouge in the first place when we all started 25 years ago. If I want less gas than 117 I can just under fill, legitimately. Just trying to see if I'm missing something here.

This is fast turning into an LP vs HP argument that has been carried out numerous times in many forums (as in many settings and not just internet forums)
Yes, the only thing to be learned here is that the American method of naming tanks leaves a lot to be desired. The European method (internal volume) makes it a lot easier to tell how big a tank actually is.

I overfill my LP tanks regularly. At this point I believe there is more than enough evidence to indicate that cylinder failures are few and far between. I have no idea what the penalty would be and doubt anybody would ever check the tanks to begin with. That being said a source can be found here...
