I route it up and then loop it down around my belly button.

i tried both long and short options and find with the original hose supplied on my salvo valves routing over the waistband of my shorts and down was the best way.

My preferred method as well and seems to work best with a with variety of undergarments. And certainly easier to do a discrete connect/disconnect.

However that may be a secondary consideration if there is a pre-disposition to flow activation in either of the methods

No matter what the length of the hose is, I keep a 90 degree, plastic turn in my parts kit, just incase I'm using someone elses drysuit; which I am at the moment.... Sure worked this past week.

Yeah, I wondered about that too.. Recently, I had Steve take out my balanced P Valve and put in the old style. (I just don't like the balanced ones... buts that's another story... ) It came back with that long hose. I wondered WHY so long... Did Steve know (or hear things) about me that I'm not aware of? I wasn't sure about that, but I made do and only after a few dives, I realized that this stronger and longer hose works much better than all the others I've had. It loops up and down to that important hookup. Flexes, stretches and works like WJH said. Try it a few times and see.

I thought that genetics had a lot to do with the length of your p valve hose. You know, if you have big feet you use a shorter hose, or thick wrists, or long thumbs...... Besides, its not the length of the hose, right???????

Where's the old post showing P valve placement? The pic had a pair of legs with left leg placement and right leg placement and then a spot below the left knee marked "my valve" placement. Oldie but a goodie.
