    Default Phantom Springs Cave

Does anyone have any information and/or knowledge of the accessibility to dive Phantom Spring Cave/Spring in West Texas. The Maverick Grotto, associated with NSS-CDS has it lited on their web site, however I had my e-mails bounce back from their listed e-mail addresses.

I know it's on a private ranch and the ranch is, or was, for sale. If anyone has any recent information, please post it.

    Thanks,

    Don

Here are some other grottos you might try to contact:

PS - I edited your posting to fix the spelling of "Phantom"

Land of Enchantment -- not so great for cave diving, but mighty scenic!

Phantom is owned by an agency of the federal government and is home to a number of critically endangered species of fish and invertebrates. Because of this, it is strictly closed to diving, other than for scientific purposes, and then only by permit. Only two permits are allowed at a time, both of which are taken. Wasnt apost about a dive report just about a week ago about this spring? One that they might only be allowed in 1 or 2 more times for more species collection and are not allowed to map so that other wells wouldnot get sunk into it?
