Default Twin and Hole in the Wall dive 11-5-11

Dove with floridakid and Kotik on both of these this weekend. Twin viz was pretty good (around 60 feet) and we made it back about 850 ft before turning it. HITW was pretty rough. Viz varied from 15 to 40 feet. In the larger rooms it cleared up decently but in the low chokes it got pretty gnarly. Numerous thermoclines were all over the place. Pondwater was about 63 and the cave water was about 68ish. Went back again about 850 ft. floridakid (brave soul) did all of the dives in a 3mil!

When I went and looked at my computer, the lowest temp I registered was 62 at Hole in the Wall, it was definitely siphoning pond water. And as far as the vis in Hole in the Wall is concerned, It was utterly spooky. I thought that one of those creatures from "The Descent" was going to pop out at any moment. The little troglobitic crayfish were also having a feeding frenzy on the nasty water, which was pretty cool to watch. True, vis was bad, but it was not a bad dive at all.

3mm??? 62 degrees is almost too cold for me to get in with a dry suit!

Glad you guys hooked up and had some good dives together.

Yeah, it was too cold, and it will NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN! I don't think I'm gonna even dive wet in the gulf anymore after that little brush with hypothermia. But that dive was well worth braving the cold water.

I call BS, it is below 60 in Missouri, and will be in TN, and you can't even wear a drysuit to get to the water.

Chris, Morgan, it was great diving with you guys, I had a blast. Let's make sure we see Hole in the Wall again when we can actually see it!

How about an hour dive in Lake Mead to visit the bomber there in 55 degree water with a 3mm and no gloves or hood?
