Wow, this is really explosive material!!!
While the discussion was on in the forum we talked about this also in the FB page "Cave Diving Permanent Line and Markers Issues" and we might have gotten to the end of this stupid arrows war.
It is clear that all that happened until now didn't help at all and in most cases worsened the situation. Through our discussion we agreed to meet soon with every cave diver in the Quintana Roo community that is interested in forgetting the past and start over.
Talking politely we all got to the conclusion that the situation was ridiculous and agreed in making a plan, hopefully coordinated by the safety officers, for remarking the main caves in a permanent safe way and establish guidelines for new caves marking.
While Steve Gerard stepped back and promised to respect the decisions that our community will take, some important cave divers that have been his opponents in this game haven't spoken publicly yet.
I have no doubt though that they will understand as well that it is time to put personal issues aside and change a situation that compromises safety and makes all of us look like fools...
Well said Mauro.
Clean slate and let's start again, proper!
Forrest, unfortunately their are few Mexican cave diver, active cave divers and explorers.
On the other hand, maybe I don't really understand why you say that. What do you have in mind?
Cheers
Jason

And no one needs to agree on your own views "on safety". It is extremely irresponsible (to say the least) to start changing lines around without notifying anyone, especially divers that happen to be diving the system at the time. It should come to you as no surprise that people will not appreciate such actions.
Obnoxiously stating your arrogant viewpoint does nothing to solve the problem - and a problem it is as most of the people that posted on this thread seem to agree.
My point is most of the people involved act like the caves are their personal property, but have only recently moved to QR (since the caves were discovered).
We had the same issues in the US 30 years ago, the beginning of the line moved every week. One group would put it near the entrance, and another group would cut it back. It didn't stop, until the land owners said anyone caught moving line wouldn't be allowed to dive there anymore.
Hopefully Mauro's idea will work!
You know, Forrest, if you hadn't have come up with all of these damn arrows none of this would be a problem. Everyone would still be dealing with those sticky Dorf's. So in a way, its all your fault.
