Predator battery issue

Have the batteries recommended in the battery FAQ for the predator...last week the low battery warning came on during a dive at morrison. When I replace the battery with the recommended battery I get a flashing screen on the predator...when I put the old battery in it still has enough left to power the computer up fine...I have 4 spares and every spare results in a flashing screen and the inability to get to and through the tissues cleared screen. Anyone else have this issue? Not running the current beta version but have upgraded from the early software. Bill

Call Shearwater. They have unbelieveable support and will tell you how to resolve this.

I had a flashing screen issue this weekend and this particular battery had seen a lot less use than the previous battery. A new battery resolved the problem but it has me wondering if my predator is becoming a battery hog and or if the most recent release (prior to the VPM beta) is harder in battery life.

Not predator related, but I had a pack of AAA batteries go bad. I left them in the package in the truck for a few days and apparently the heat sucked the power out of them. They were Duracells, several years away from use by date. Maybe they were a bad batch to begin with, but I'm thinking it was the heat. I know you guys are more careful than I when it comes to that sort of thing, but sometimes we forget....

there have been issues with the predators and battery use as well as false battery warnings caused by temperature variance. There are multiple threads on it on RBW. I frequently get yellow battery warnings during a dive that will then resolve mid dive. There was also talk of bad saft batteries being produced. I don' t recall anyone having the flashing issues you describe, but i could be wrong. Definitely give SW a shout they are fantastic about customer support. I have gotten replies to issues I was having even when they were out of the country.

Turns out there is a saft 14500 and a saft 14500c, both 3.6v. The 14500c however will not power the predator while the 14500 will, i had the 14500c, i was not careful in my battery purchase. Bill
