Goal Oriented Diving

Well, I am a very goal oriented diver, always have been. My primary goal is to avoid drowning. It does not matter if I am cave diving, wreck diving, or commercial diving, avoiding death has been my primary goal. Everything else, secondary. I have had many friends that were not successful in this goal, and by their example, along with the varied poor yutzes I have had to recover over the years, I have continually focused on my goal of avoiding drowning. I highly suggest that everyone share this goal.

Yep, that is my major goal as well!

Here's a classic discussion of goal orientation in flying...as usual flying and diving are activities that have many similarities. It is not the goal that's bad but the tendency to focus on it in an obsessive way...in a cave the survey process comes to mind.
