To me, that's worse than 36 F in the water and 60 F topside. By the time I'm geared up and properly insulated for depth, I'm drenched in sweat.....errr.....glistening Comfortable at depth (36-38F), but sweating on deco....that was an experience!

I'll reluctantly have to miss it, as I'll be in Florida feeding my cave diving addiction from 10/2 to 10/20. But you go right ahead without me, and have fun!

BTW, my wife and I did the open water dives for our initial scuba certification in True Blue, in April, in wetsuits, with snow on the ground. The first words she uttered upon reaching the surface were, "I'm getting a drysuit!"

Pretty much what I said after my first ice dive.

The worst thing about real cold water is that after awhile if you have to switch regs you will have to use your hands to help close your mouth over the new one. You loose fine jaw movement. Like a previous poster stated, the worst is usually post dive above water. You can get a serious wind burn on your face, or frostbite if you are not careful.

A small rubber circle saves lips. I bought it when I was tired to drink cold water just because my mouth could not be closed

Is this made of neoprene? Can you switch regulators with one?

I found this photo on the Internet. I can take a picture of my regulator with this thing in the evening at home. It's made of rubber. It is not neoprene.

So it goes on the regulator then? Any trouble switching regulators?
