Possible diving restriction at Morrison?

My buddy and I arrived pretty early at Morrison this weekend and a group had already taken up most of the tables and were not interested in sharing any space; even though all of the divers in their group were in the water. Long story short, we were scolded for attempting to set up on top of the big picnic tables. A nice dude talked to us later and said that they were worried that the a few county commissioners were trying to shut the park down to diving because the tables/facilities were being ruined by scuba divers. Any insight? Is it poor form to set up on picnic tables?

And I always thought it was the other way around. Who would of thought that open water divers would be mean to the cave divers...... The guy told us we could put on our doubles while sitting on the ground and then just STAND up from an indian style position! Needless to say, the argument didn't get very far....

I'm pretty sure I know what group that was. That's very typical of them. They always act like they own the park. I don't know anything about diving being restricted at Morrison, but IIRC most of the tables there are metal. Not sure how they're being ruined.

I misunderstood the title of this thread. I was going to post, "Yes, there's a restriction in Morrison, and no, you aren't going past it."

Ongoing problem with a scuba shop that grabs every available table, then lays out some mats, beach towels, lawn chairs, bbq grills, kitchen sinks, and landing strips. Typically there is a single representative saving everyone's seats and complaining flamboyantly when crippled kids have to lean on something to adjust their crutches.

It also seems like it takes them from sunup to sundown to get their business done, but that part may be my imagination.

We should get a large group together and show up about 7 am. Then we should dive in shifts til after lunch. Have a little fun with them.

I'm betting the party in question is the Sea Divers group out of Ozark...

We've had similar run-ins with them, and they are suprisingly rude. I've also seen them interupt another OW class because one of their babysitters mistakenly misinterpretted what the OW instructor was telling his class, and decided upon themselves to right the situation by lambasting said instructor(in front of his students) - who infact never said anything wrong to begin with...

They're rude, bitter, and completely unprofessional.

Yes, it is very small. The entrance was dynamited by the Sheriff's office many years ago, to prevent diving accidents.

All it takes is a local resident complaining that they can't access facilities because the divers dominate them to leave a sour note with some government official. This type of generalization of divers being a nuisance extends to cave divers too,and makes it a challange when requesting access etc in that county/region. It would be cool if cave divers were the solution by providing additional picnic benches,and an area set aside for the divers. That type of stuff goes miles,and pays bigger dividends than the small cost.
