Dry/Wet caving in the high country

We went in looking for Fulford one cold January day on snowshoes & skiis, hopeing to gain a warm place to thaw. The snow was deeply covering the entrance at an elevation of over 10,000', so this ended in a day trip in the wilderness with numerous deer & Snowshoe hares jumping around. An excursion to remember. I went back in summer time to ck it out, & it is one amazing cave system with waterfalls & tri-levels of tunnel. I never made it to Spring cave, but that is a on-going exploration is my understanding, including several sumps within. Feel free to add to this thread, I would like to hear more.

I would be interested in more info on the sumps. I grew up in Colorado and return several times a year.

Hi Mike,

Spring cave is near Glenwood springs, & i believe there are several nss/cds grottos locally to hook you up with an excusion there.
You might try searching the NSS/CDS site for more info on the local grottos. I have never done Spring Cave, so I cannot help you much on that one. Fulford is primarily a dry cave with tri-levals & water falls. I do not think there are any going sumps within there.
